Combat Styles

Combat Traits may be bought at 50%, 75% and 100% skill ratings (see table below). Each Trait costs 3 xp rolls and needs a trainer and training for 1 month. Most combat styles require all the precursor traits to be aquired before the next can be mastered.

COMBAT TRAITS

Armoured Warrior: Long tgraining and habitual use of heavy armour allow the first fatigue test to be 1 grade easier.

Blind Fighting: Trained to use all their senses in combat, a BLIND FIGHTING suffers one less Difficulty level when fighting in Obscuring conditions (Night, fog, Smoke etc).

Bow Master: Rapid shot does not incure the extra difficulty. May reduce reload speed by 2 and increase difficulty level by 1

Cut Twice: May attack one opponent twice for 1 AP, but damage bonus is reduced by 2 levels and difficulty increased by 1 level.

Deceptive Movement: Grants a +20 bonus to Evade skill in an Outmanouvre test.

Disarming Blade: When choosing Disarm SE, the disarming weapon counts as 1 size larger.

Double Parry: If using two melee weapons the size of either parrying weapon is considered 1 size larger when parrying

Fire Past: Shooting into a crowd, cover is 1 level easier

Flat of the Blade: Medium or Large weapons listed in the combat style gain the Stun ability.

Grit your Teeth: If testing Endurance in combat to resist a special effect (e.g. Bleed, Blind, Stun). Treat as 1 level easier.

Heavy Blows: May increase the difficulty level by 1 to increase the damage bonus level by 1.

Improved reactions: If not surprised and having no more than an armour SR penalty of 3, the character may add 2 to their Strike rank.

Kneeling Shot: Allows shooting of Short or Recurve bows from a kneeling position without penalty. Shooter counts as 1 size smaller as a target.

Lancer: Using a Lance, Spear Kontos etc does not impose a difficulty level when charging

Marksman: May adjust the hit location by 1 place to an adjacent location.

Mounted Formation: With a trained mount a group of cavalry with Mounted Formation training may move altogether on the SR of their designated leader.

Nerve strikes: When using the Stun Location special effect the target makes the opposed test at the next higher level.

Phalanx: Anyone with this trait can automatically brace another ‘Phalanx’ member who is directly infront and adjacent to them.

Power Throw: Thrown weapons count as one size larger for purposes of being parried.

Precise Strike: If using the Choose Location special effect, the damage modifier is incresed by one level, as the attacker drives home his attack into a vunerable spot.

Quick Draw: It costs 0 ap to ready/load a small weapon.

Rapid Assault: Charging does not impose the increase in Difficulty level when using weapons in the Combat style.

Rapid Shot: Reloading a ranged weapon takes 1 less action but increases difficulty level by 1.

Reload Efficiency: Through long practice and refined handling techniques, reloading a crossbow takes one less action.

Silent Stalker: If the opponent is surprised then on the 1st round a Silent Stalker may choose ‘Choose Location’ in addition to any other Special effect that they generate. E.g. Choose Location and Bypass armour.

Sudden Lunge: May attack as if the weapon is one size larger.

Trample [Mount]: A trained mount is alowed to trample.

Twin Throw: May throw two Throwing weapons for 1 AP (One from each hand). Both attacks are 1 level of difficulty harder.

Twist the Blade: If using the Impale SE, the impaling weapon may be immediately withdrawn as a free action and deals the extra damage associated with pulling out an impaling weapon.

Whirling Blade: When using a 2 handed weapon can passive block 3 areas. A whirling flashing blade creates an almost inpenaterable barrier.
